Best Dressed Celebs at the Oscars

I know this is a little late, but it wouldn’t feel right to make a post featuring the celebs I thought killed it on the red carpet. My absolute favorite looks came from Felicity Jones in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein Collection by Francisco Costa.

Some people say they don’t like when celebrities overdress or under-dress, especially for awards ceremonies. However, sticking to such a dismissive mindset really limits your ability to appreciate beauty and luxury (the two values upheld on any red carpet). One has to step back from their preconceived misconceptions and find value in things that are legitimately awesome. So that is what I plan on doing today by limiting down this post to the two people I believe deserve finger snaps all around for really nailing the Oscars this year.

Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) was absolutely stunning in her Alexander Mcqueen ball gown paired with vintage Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and clutch. As she walked down the carpet and interacted with different people along the way, I felt moved by someone’s ability to embrace such elegance so nonchalantly. One thing that I appreciated about the dress was that I was able to imagine myself in it at that moment, something some designers couldn’t care less about once they label their work “couture”.

In recent award shows, Lupita Nyong’o has been sporting a few lackluster looks on the red carpet. So I waited with much anticipation hoping for Nyong’o to deliver at this one, and that she did. After several visits to the Klein showroom for custom fittings, Lupita wore a custom Calvin Klein Collection pearl and ivory beaded gown… and slayed!
